Alexion’s €75m investment to create 200 new jobs in Dublin

4/04/2014 by

UP to 200 new jobs will be created following the expansion by one of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical companies.

Alexion Pharmaceutical has been granted planning permission for a new global supply chain facility at College Park in Blanchardstown, west Dublin.

The multi-national plans to make a €75m investment in the new site over the next two years, creating 200 construction jobs.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the move marks a significant commitment to Ireland and shows a vote of confidence in the country.

“As a Government, we are determined to deliver jobs and investment and this welcome announcement is another step in getting Ireland working again,” he said.

Fingal County Council granted permission for the new 15,000 sq m laboratory, office, packaging and warehouse facility on a 41-acre greenfield site in Blanchardstown.

The jobs will be in supply chain, quality control, packaging, warehousing and supporting functions.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, who met senior executives from Alexion on a recent IDA mission to the US, said the Government is working hard to build on the country’s strengths in the pharma field.
