Traveling is not always easy, and for corporate travelers, a simple solution for booking all aspects of a trip is a welcome gift. That was likely the mindset behind the partnership between Amadeus and SAP.

Earlier this week the two companies announced that they had entered into a strategic technical agreement to integrate the SAP Cloud for Travel and Expense solution with Amadeus e-Travel Management. Already, the two firms had been business partners for more than 15 years. This move just ensures the relationship and provides more options to customers.

Amadeus Executive Vice President of Research & Development Hervé Couturier said in a statement that his organisation was very pleased with the agreement.

Just a couple of weeks ago, SAP was also making headlines with its user conference SAPPHIRE NOW. The company announced the release of Simple Finance, a tool that leverages SAP’s finance solutions – which were built according to customer input – and the real-time in memory technology of SAP HANA.

“Bringing together SAP’s enterprise solutions and Amadeus’ travel technology and expertise, enables us to set a new standard for our cooperation and deliver a unique integrated offering for corporations’ travel management,” Couturier said.

According to an IT Pro article, Amadeus realised that the business travel community needed “something that would make planning that trip to Silicon Valley a little less taxing.”

Amadeus Vice President of global customers Álbert Pozo said in a company statement that businesses want a well-rounded solution for their travel management requirements, ideally through a single provider that is integrated with the rest of the company’s systems.

The partnership will put SAP at the heart of the travel sector, said Franck Cohen, president of EMEA, SAP AG. Cohen explained in an SAP release that the combination of Amadeus’ booking technology and SAP’s Cloud Travel and Expense Solution is a major innovation. Specifically, Amadeus now has the ability to give organisations a unique option to manage travel management and meet business travellers’ expectations.
