J&J announces deals with six Boston biotech firms

Johnson & Johnson Innovation LLC is announcing alliances with six Boston-area companies in life sciences around research and development. Four of the Boston companies have received equity investments from J&J.

The local effort is being led for J&J out of its Boston Innovation Center in Cambridge.

J&J is aiming to show it has a “strong commitment to being flexible and creative in our deal making in order to maximize the potential of each individual technology,” said Paul Stoffels, chief scientific officer of Johnson & Johnson, in a news release.

Among the alliances is one with a new Cambridge biotech startup, Navitor Pharmaceuticals, which launched today with $23.5 million in funding from investors including J&J.
