Markel hires Apple’s global business intelligence manager

Winters joins Markel from Apple where his role was global business intelligence manager across Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia.

His initial focus will be the development and delivery of a data repository and developing a reporting and analytics strategy to support the business in making quicker, better informed decisions.

In the nine years Neil spent at Apple he was responsible for delivering business intelligence solutions to all business functions across 15 countries, overseeing several transitions of business intelligence technology and processes during a time of significant global expansion.

Prior to this, he held senior business intelligence positions at Microsoft Corporation UK, BBC Worldwide and British Sky Broadcasting.

Commenting on the appointment, Hugh Maltby, director of operations, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Neil to Markel and are confident that, with his leadership skills and experience in business intelligence, he’ll bring an original and inventive perspective to how we make best use of the data we have to help support the growth of our business.
