Mosman Oil & Gas, whose shares shot up more than 200% on Friday, has revealed more “excellent results” from its Cross Roads-1 well on the Petroleum Creek Project in New Zealand.
Having encountered 17 metres of oil over two zones in the Eight Mile formation, the group said the lower-lying Cobden limestone revealed good oil shows over seven metres from 241 metres.
The formation has good matrix and fracture porosity, Mosman added.
Now drilled to a depth of 313 metres, the well will be cased and fitted with blow-out preventers.
The plan now is to drill to the basement of Cross Roads before it is suspended pending testing.
Before testing the company’s contractors will drill the Crestal-1 and Crestal-2 targets.
Mosman said it has started to plan an appraisal programme that may include seismic and perhaps additional wells.
Chairman John Barr said: “The continued excellent results from Cross Roads-1 are positive both for this location and for the other seismic defined Eight Mile and Cobden formation prospects in this permit.
