When Elite Recruitment asked Andy Larholt in a 60 second interview

What are the best ways that you have seen to motivate recruitment consultants? Is money still the biggest motivator for recruiters and if not, what is? 

Andy Larholt replied "I have found what motivates people in recruitment is different for each individual; it also changes over time and due to various circumstances. For example a new trainee may be motivated by training and learning whereas a longer serving member of staff may be more interested in developing their leadership abilities. Interestingly those individuals that we have had over the years that have been highly money motivated actually haven’t turned out to be the long-term members of staff. They tend to be more short-term in their outlook and less interested in building a career based on quality and reputation. We spend a lot of time speaking to our people to find out what is important to them and what we can do to get the most of them. This is an on-going process facilitated through one-to-ones, appraisals, employee surveys and so on.  I believe that above all else the majority of people are motivated by the feeling of being valued, given opportunity to grow and the ability to make a difference."
