VMware Updates Software-Defined Data Center Lineup

Slew is an understatement for the number of products VMware Relevant Products/Services just rolled out for the software-defined data Relevant Products/Services center Relevant Products/Services (SDDC). With these latest releases, there's no doubt that the virtualization Relevant Products/Services and cloud Relevant Products/Services company is throwing down the SDDC gauntlet with one of the most complete product portfolios for implementing and operating these environments.

Let's look at the big picture, then we'll drill down into what you can expect from the new solutions. Now generally available are: VMware NSX 6.1, VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.8, VMware vCloud Suite 5.8, VMware vRealize Operations Insight, VMware vRealize Suite 6, and VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced 5.8.

With the updates, VMware's stated goal is to help organizations build, manage and protect their software-defined data center environments. NSX: New and Improved:

The first new and improved SDDC solution is VMware NSX 6.1. This product promises to help improve the security Relevant Products/Services, scalability and performance of both the SDDC and the hybrid Relevant Products/Services cloud.

The new release adds more advanced network Relevant Products/Services micro-segmentation capabilities, scale-out NSX Edge -- equal cost multi-path routing -- enhancements to VMware vCloud Automation Center 6.1 integration, and better hybrid cloud connectivity.

Customers who upgrade are not only equipped to deploy Relevant Products/Services self-service IT, enterprises can also tap into what VMware calls an "economically and operationally feasible" way to deploy network micro-segmentation to transform data center security architecture.

VMware Realizes Opportunity

VMware vCloud Suite 5.8 is the latest version of the integrated offering for building and managing vSphere private clouds based on a SDDC architecture so organizations can pave the way for efficient and agile critical IT outcomes.

With the upgraded suite, VMware introduces new policy-based provisioning capabilities and integrations that make it possible for organizations to add disaster recovery services via VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.8 and better networking and security services to their applications and infrastructures.

Moving down the list of SDDC products, VMware vRealize Operations Insight is a new integrated offering that promises to deliver performance management, capacity optimization, and real-time Relevant Products/Services log analytics Relevant Products/Services. vRealize Operations is an add-on solution to VMware vSphere with Operations Management.

VMware vRealize Suite 6 is a new cloud management platform that combines the capabilities of VMware's existing cloud automation, cloud operations and cloud business Relevant Products/Services management solutions into one offering.
