San Francisco-based Salesforce is moving forward with a planned Atlanta expansion that would create about 300 jobs, according to a source.

In November, Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported the enterprise software giant's plans to expand its regional hub in Atlanta, with plans to take an additional 50,000 square feet in a Buckhead office tower.

On Dec. 31, Salesforce filed a building permit with Atlanta for renovation work on the 31st floor in Atlanta Plaza, a 34-story building, where the company employs more than 250 people on two floors. The permit involved work on nearly 20,000 square feet at a cost of $1.5 million.

A Salesforce representative declined comment Monday afternoon

The Salesforce expansion is being driven in part by the high-octane growth of Pardot, an Atlanta marketing automation startup Salesforce now owns. Pardot was acquired byExactTarget for $95 million in 2012. Salesforce bought ExactTarget for $2.5 billion last year.

Atlanta's reputation as the business hub of the Southeast makes it a natural sales and business development outpost for an enterprise-focused company.

Why do we punish the victims of hacking?

2017-09-21 09:00:00 +0100

Hacks occur every 39 seconds, with 95% of them targeting governments, retailers and the tech industry. If the hackers are caught, they'll face prison time under the Computer Misuse Act. More often than not, the businesses who are victims of those attacks expose themselves to punishment of their own. The laws that determine the duty of protection owed to businesses and their customers is both vague and broad, making them question just how much protection...
