CTCC, China Telecom’s cloud services-focused subsidiary is deploying Nuage Network’s software defined networking technology to underpin the firm’s datacentre architecture.

CTCC said it plans to deploy Nuage Networks’ Virtualised Services Platform (VSP), which includes a services controller, a services directory (which stores the business logic for network services), and a routing and switching module (which serves as a virtual endpoint for networking services).

The firm also plans to deploy Nuage’s Virtualised Services Gateway (VSG), a 1RU datacentre gateway that supports SDN protocols and applications through layers 2-4.

The Chinese cloud services provider said the SDN deployment will help make its platform more elastic and scalable, and may also mitigate the customer impact of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks by improving network isolation capabilities within its datacentres.

“We are pleased that Nuage Networks has helped us to achieve scalability in our cloud infrastructure and improve the availability of the services,” said Guang Xiaoming, the chief technology officer of CTTC.

“We can now offer our customers self-serve public cloud services in a more secure and dynamic way, giving them services that are tailored to meet their unique business requirements,” Xiaoming said.

Sunil Khandekar, chief executive officer of Nuage Networks added: “We are excited to work with CTCC in support of their public cloud implementation. CTCC’s customers deserve instant access to public cloud services that are supported by a network that is capable of responding to their changing needs, and the full range of applications that they require and depend on to power their businesses.”
