New business intelligence app for travel agencies

3/07/2015 by Sharon Shahzad

Amadeus has released a new business intelligence (BI) tool for travel agencies, allowing agents to connect with large amounts of data and discover new business opportunities. The solution is named Amadeus Agency Insight and is a suite of tools that will help to handle the transforming market and find new prospects.

To be utilised by both online and offline agents, Amadeus Agency Insight will transform traveller and market data in insights that agents can easily understand; for example, information might provide additional insights on consumers’ search behaviour, new markets and travel routes to address, and competitor performance. Two initial modules have been launched: Booking Analysis and Search Analysis.

Booking Analysis provides a way for companies to benchmark their position in the market and then evaluate their competitors. It also sheds light on emerging routes and growing airlines, which should provide a way for travel agencies to find new opportunities. Market strategies, supplier management and sales monitoring can also be enhanced by using the tool.

Search Analysis allows agencies to gain instant insights into prospective customer intentions. Search data is analysed and agents can then visualise popular destinations, trip duration and travel dates, helping them to provide the experiences that are most in demand.

Costamar president Gerardo Concas spoke about using Amadeus Agency Insight to get a better understanding of the market. “Deep understanding of the data and information we handle each day is critical to making good business decisions. Amadeus’s approach to travel intelligence allows us to achieve this understanding and benefit from greater insight, without requiring us to maintain a staff of specialised data analysts. We are very excited to see data turned into actionable information on a near real-time basis, making decision-making faster and simpler. This is key to effectively identify new revenue opportunities globally as well as to incorporate market and traveller insights into business planning, development and implementation,” he explained.

Other companies already using the software include Delfos, Travelfast, Makemytrip and Despegar. The solution has been made possible by Amadeus’s Travel Intelligence Engine, which is a cloud-based platform that deals with big data and draws a vast amount of knowledge together that airlines, travel agencies and other players in the market can utilise to their advantage. The company suggests that because the tool was created in the age of big data, it has speed and flexibility that many traditional BI apps do not necessarily have. This also means that there is no defined architecture and Amadeus Agency Insight can be operated across a large variety of business environments.
