Sisense has launched a new business intelligence (BI) tool that aims to boost BI from the 2D environment into real life. Business Intelligence Virtually Everywhere harnesses the power of internet of things (IoT) and AI devices to boost BI engagement and adoption.
Debuting in the beta stage, Sisense has launched Business Intelligence Virtually Everywhere with two devices; an IoT lightbulb and an Amazon Echo, both of which are enabled with Sisense programming. Use of the devices allows BI to move beyond the traditional 2D screen and gain a more emotional and intuitive connection with data. This can significantly boost adoption and engagement, with early users, including Skullcandy, CTSI-Global and Act-On Software, already experiencing a positive and tangible impact.

As part of the firm’s integration with Amazon Echo, BI has moved beyond the screen and into users’ environments by using natural language. This is the first instance of the humanisation of data consumption by an AI, and it means that analysts can interact with their information in a more natural way. This includes being able to ask questions and get results back in real time. Meanwhile, the Sinsense-enabled IoT lightbulb facilitates the consumption of business insights by users. Ambient light is used to represent the progression of a business towards a desired metric. The lightbulb’s colour changes to reflect movement in business conditions and KPIs.
CTSI-Global’s Todd Winton said: “We have seen a 500% increase in user engagement as a result of the Sisense IoT bulb. When rolling out a new software system, we tied the bulb to a threshold monitoring system logins across our employees. Below the threshold value, the bulb was red. Before utilising the Sisense bulb, we were seeing just a few daily logins, but once we connected the bulb and put it in an open space that all the employees could see, system logins grew immediately. People did not like seeing red. This simple tool impacted our team to a greater extent than anyone expected.”
