C# .NET Developer (VB.NET / SQL)

Position Summary

An exciting new opportunity has risen for a VB.Net Developer with one of Britain's most reputable financial enterprise! They are looking for someone with previous VB.Net development experience to join their team in the IT department. The candidate will have contact with other departments in this growing company through the user support functions and software development process.

My client has a lot of specialist knowledge and has a personalised approach which gives them competitive advantage. They are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen for a new experience with responsibility and accountability.

Position Responsibilities

  • Creating design specifications and technical specifications for system amendments and enhancements
  • Coding system amendments and enhancements as per specifications
  • Testing the system amendments and enhancements made by yourself and others
  • Documenting system amendments and enhancements
  • Completing user support requests
  • Fault finding and problem solving in all applications including fixing and testing
  • Ad-hoc reporting and data extraction
  • Database designing and administration in relation to system amendments and enhancements
  • Periodical review and enhancement of departmental software development process

Requirements

  • Experience in all steps of the software development cycle and in building a major part in the initial design and development of multi-user systems
  • Solid working knowledge of both thin and fat client multiuser systems
  • Knowledge of TCF
  • Experience in XML, ASP.Net, HTML, JavaScript, PHP and reporting tools (Crystal Report/ SSIS/ SSRS)
  • Key experience of VB.Net and SQL Server
  • Knowledge of TCF and rational database design and administration is essential

Minimum Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level
  • Ability to work under pressure with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to act professionally with excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to travel and commute to offices throughout the UK
  • Qualification in Maths/Computing or a science related subject at A-level or above
  • Must have built or played a part in the initial design and development of multi-user systems using the required systems and knowledge
  • Experience in using all steps of the software development cycle
  • Experience in liaising

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in IT at a well-known financial enterprise
  • Broad knowledge of financial processes and mortgage processing would be an advantage
  • Experience in object orientated design
