My client, a global financial services company are looking for a cloud specialist to join their established team.

You will a be a pivotal member of the team implementing changes across a global AWS platform.

Job Description

  • Working with the cloud operations team to deliver operational capability of the Cloud environment.
  • Manage risks including (but not limited to) Technical, design, supplier, commercial, security, audit and operational.
  • Work with Architecture, Consumers and Platform Development communities to ensure effective design, implementation and handover of features to operations.
  • Work with community and the third-party teams to identify and resolve problems with the services and support the resolution of problems in dependent services.

As the Cloud Operations Technical specialist, you will be operating within Global IT Operations. This role reports into the Cloud Operations Lead and will own a subset of these services.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Complete Cloud Platform Operational reviews to ensure that it remains fit for purpose; monitored, resilient, recoverable, maintainable, operated, secure etc.
  • Manage change ensuring communications to affected parties and the relevant documentation/process changes are in place and maintained.
  • Process ownership of operational effectiveness testing.
  • Own, manage and document any risks including but not limited to audit and security.
  • Day to day operational supplier management.
  • To manage demand into the team and represent the team to our consumers/stakeholders.
  • To support consumers in incident resolution and co-ordination with external suppliers.
  • To work with suppliers on investigation, communicate and the remediation activities from failed change activity.
  • Manage the Cloud Platform maintenance to ensure that it remains fit for purpose.

Key Deliverables:

  • The Cloud Platform meets the agreed level of Service to support our customers.
  • The Cloud Platform meets relevant Mandatory Controls and all remediation activities are completed within agreed timescales.
  • All emergency patch requirements applied globally within agreed timescales.

Skills / Experience Required:

  • Exposure to Agile/Feature/Platform teams.
  • Service management, Release and Change management processes and tools.
  • Relevant financial services industry experience.
  • ITIL Foundation, or relevant experience.
  • AWS Certification(s).
  • Experience of working in a complex technical team.
  • Work with and manage third party suppliers.
  • Experience and understanding of the Cloud operating environment.

Skilled or have significant admin exposure at an enterprise level with the following supported operating systems;

  • Windows server 2012 R2 and 2016
  • Redhat Linux 7.x
  • Exposure to vulnerability patching for both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Scripting experience; one or more of Python, PowerShell, cloud formation, bash, terraform
  • Tooling experience; Jenkins, Puppet
  • AWS CLI, IAM and Security groups
  • Exposure to Squid Proxy or other similar technology
  • Skills in Network operations;
    • DNS
    • Firewalls and/or AWS security groups
    • Routing
    • NACLS, NAT
    • Active Directory

Salary: Competitive dependent on skills & experience.
