Job Description

Montash are looking to source and secure a Junior Data Scientist for a 12 month contract - with a leading utilities client based in Essen. Typical projects will involve testing and validating hypotheses around new business models, developing algorithms to extract insight from small and large data sets, delivering data proof of concepts, designing algorithms that work at scale and potentially developing market ready products for external clients.

Education and Experience

  • Key: 1-2 + years of experience in a data science / advanced analytics role
  • Key: Masters or PhD Degree in a quantitative discipline - Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Physical Sciences or similar (Minimum 2:1 or equivalent)
  • Key: Experience in machine learning and statistical techniques such as Linear & Logistics Regression, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbours, Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Neural Networks
  • Key: Experience in using advanced analytics software, languages and platforms such as R, Python, SAS, Casandra, Hadoop and AWS
  • Desirable: Experience of writing production quality code to process large data sets
  • Desirable: Experience of working with utility data, time series data, customer data, and/or operational business data preferred
