Role: Product Owner (data lake)

Location: London or Luton

Salary: £75-90K + bens + bonus

Our client is looking for a Product Owner who can either be based in Luton or London office with 1-2 days travel in between the 2 offices. You will have a solid background with Data Lakes and be extrovert, an influencer, story teller, own backlogs, unblock issues etc.

What is required:

  • As Product Owner, lead the design and development of our Customer Data Lake
  • Be responsible for the customer data product roadmap (new data sources, new data definitions, new derived variables etc); gathering, validating and influencing requirements from Group and Source Market stakeholders and prioritising the backlog in the context of business priorities and benefits
  • Proactively seek out new opportunities (both internal and external ) to broaden and deepen the data contained within the data lake, to improve the completeness and accuracy of the understanding of our customers
  • Analyse and articulate the business uses of the data lake and document user stories to inform the development process
  • Work with data architects and analysts to design and implement the appropriate data model, structures and definitions
  • Manage the engagement and governance process with business and technical stakeholders (markets, functions etc.) to communicate the data vision, define the attributes, specifications and associated service components to ensure the customer experience, business requirements and outcomes are met with support from CRM leads
  • Work with IT teams to ensure the business requirements are delivered to expectations and follow agreed governance and delivery processes, e.g. appropriate testing and business acceptance
  • Work alongside the customer data analysts to proactively identify, measure and fix data quality challenges
  • Champion the customer and business value potential of data to build understanding and buy-in across the business, at all levels
  • Provide regular progress reports to the work stream lead, PMO and business leads, and escalate risks and issues in line with agreed governance processes
  • Keep abreast of industry developments in the data and technology environment to provide innovative ideas and continuous improvement suggestions to ensure the data remains relevant and continues to deliver customer and business value

Skills required:

  • Proven record in developing and managing product roadmaps and product lifecycle management with specific focus on customer data (for both CRM and wider business use)
  • Proven record in developing and managing large and/or complex CRM data solutions - this includes delivering the data roadmap to extend their data 'reach'
  • Strong ideation skills (e.g. design thinking)
  • Exceptional customer focus, including internal customers
  • Excellent communication and networking skills to work with customers in guiding, advising, influencing and managing the expectations of stakeholders and leaders at all levels of business and influence solution design and delivery
  • Experience of working in a complex, multi geography, multi-cultural environment
  • Demonstrable experience of data management deliverables in both waterfall and agile development environments
  • Strong understanding of relevant big data & digital technologies, with the ability to harness their potential to drive customer and business value
  • Able to maintain strong customer focus while balancing business requirements and goals
  • Able to analyse and communicate technical concepts to create practical solutions and influence decisions
  • Strong personal impact and the ability to inspire confidence and positive action
  • Strong communications and influencing skills
  • Willingness to travel
