Montash Reviews- here is what Colin had to say...

Name: Colin McGill
Job Title: Consultant
Time at Montash: 1 year 7 months

What do you like most about working at Montash?
It’s quite a well structured environment; I have worked at another company before which didn’t have the guidance and strategy towards what you are doing; that’s one of the key things Montash has got to offer. We have a clear vision about where we are going, how we are going to do it. Ultimately we are here to make the business money and achieve our goals.

What were you doing before joining Montash?
I was working at another recruitment company for three and a half years, it was a smaller company and didn’t really have a clear vision on where it was heading.

What is the highlight of your career?
The first deal I did was the biggest deal I ever did, I came from a very small environment where fees were quite small and then I came to Montash and did my biggest deal ever, it made me realise the potential of working for a bigger recruitment company. I knew from that moment onwards that I was going to do really well at Montash and achieve what I set myself to do.

What do you think about the Leadership at Montash?
Andy Larholt has a clear vision about where we need to go, he is driving that and that comes from the top down. We have clear direction and everyone is working towards the same goal.

What are your thoughts about your career progression?
It’s all set out, we have a big graphic in the kitchen where everyone knows where they are in their careers and what they need to do to reach their next goal. We have quarterly reviews, just to discuss where we want to go and what we need to do, to get there.

Do you feel you have clear guidance for your own career and personal development?
Every quarter we sit down with our managers, we have reviews on a weekly basis and we have one-to-one meetings with the senior leadership team to ensure we know where we are going and what we want to achieve.

What has been your biggest achievement?
In my first month I had a really good month which got me on the lunch club and I celebrated my success. We went to a Michelin starred restaurant; it was a good lunch with the team and the CEO. It was good fun.

Describe the culture at Montash?
You need to work hard to get the rewards and benefits. This is a very mature environment it’s not childish; everyone is very serious about what they do. Montash is also a fun environment to work in, we all get on with each other and know how to have a laugh at the appropriate times. To succeed you will need to work hard. The opportunity is out there for everyone to do that.

What have you enjoyed the most about the culture at Montash?
The way success is celebrated at Montash. I also enjoy going out on holidays. I had the chance to go to Barcelona because I met targets. We do work hard but we also do enjoy and celebrate our achievements. We are in the HOT100 and have won many awards.

What advice would you give consultants joining Montash?
You’ve got to be prepared to work hard it is the key thing to success, that’s recruitment in a nutshell. If you work hard and have dedication to achieve, you will reap the awards and progress further in your career and life.
